- This grand doctrinal book denies a quick summary. It is a small picture of the whole Bible, moving
- from the sin of man and the place of Israel to the fulfilling work of Christ, the work of the Holy
- Spirit and the duties of believers.
-
- Note PaulΓÇÖs repeated warnings that Christians have become victorious over the world-system and
- are no longer to simply react to surroundings or other people, even church folk. We do not debate
- over the role of Jews, for all now look to Christ alone for victory. It is he who fulfills prophecy,
- saves, and guides the new life. It is Christ alone who gives unity and solves doctrinal quarrels. It is
- Christ alone whom we represent in our witness.
-
- Often overlooked, the final chapters define our part, our conduct as we live in response to the gift of
- salvation given through Christ. We are to have holy, clean bodies, free from known sin; we are to
- have clean minds, disciplined and trained on scripture, and fixed on Christ. Even so, we are to avoid
- judgementalism, but should give ourselves in service to and conversion of the sinner, as we follow
- Christ.
